Anniversary exhibition dedicated to Moldovan writer opened at National Library

Chisinau, 25 November /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition titled, I am not a poet tribune…, occasioned by the 70th birthday anniversary of well-known writer Arcadie Suceveanu, was opened at the National Library (BNRM) today.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the head of the BNRM marketing and socio-cultural communication section, Ana Plamadeala, has said that the most representative books of the writer’s works and reference documents on his writings was selected for this exhibition.
Arcadie Suceveanu was born in the Suceveni village, Hliboca (Adancata) district, Chernivtsi region, Ukraine, on 16 November 1952. In 1974, he graduated from the State University of Chernivtsi, Philology Faculty, section of Romanian language and Literature. Suceveanu was elected USM deputy head in 1990. As of 2005, he was elected secretary and then head of the Chisinau Branch of the Writers’ Union from Romania. Starting from 2010 till 2021, Suceveanu acted as head of the Moldovan Writers’ Union.
He debuted as poet in 1968. Suceveanu is present with poems in anthologies from Belarus, France, Italy, North Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Sweden, Ukraine and other countries. He translated works by Tolstoy, Aytmatov, Gorky into Romanian.
Arcadie Suceveanu was awarded the Mihai Eminescu Prize of the Romanian Academy (1997), National Prize of Moldova (1998), Prize of the Romanian Writers’ Union (2016), Prize of the Moldovan Writers’ Union (1987, 1995, 1999, 2000, 2002), the honorific title Master of Literature (2001), Mihai Eminescu (2000), the Labour Glory order (2010) and the Order of Honour (2012).
The exhibition till be opened till 30 December.
