Chisinau, 29 November /MOLDPRES/ - Inscriptions of Stephen the Great have been found in Kherson, Ukraine. On this account, Moldova’s Culture Ministry reiterates the state’s commitment to support the evacuation of the cultural heritage from Ukraine in safer conditions.
„We are in permanent dialogue with Ukrainian Culture Minister Oleksandr Tkachenko and Romanian counterpart Lucian Romascanu. It is not the case for us to get involved into a competition now on who preserves the treasures better, as it is about the war situation and about the fact that pieces of world heritage of inestimable value can be irretrievably lost in bombardments or being stolen and vandalized by occupants. Now, our duty is to provide support in safeguarding the heritage and to join efforts, in order to back the culture and people of the neighbor country,’’ Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan said.
The inscription of Stephen the Great are artifacts of the 14th century, plates with Slavic writing from walls of the White Fortress (presently Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi), which show historical events from that period. The plates were preserved at the Museum from Kherson.
