Lawyer, intermediary detained in file on influence peddling in Moldova

Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/ - Anticorruption officers and prosecutors have detained a lawyer and an intermediary in a file on influence peddling.

According to the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA), the persons are suspected of having received illicit remunerations from a woman in exchange for a promise to influence the final ruling on a criminal file, which is pending in court.

Thus, the two people would have claimed 200 euros and 6,400 dollars, in order to influence judges of the Causeni Court, who were examining a case of murder attempt. According to the denouncer, the suspects would have promised the woman that they can prompt the judges to issue a sentence of conviction with the suspension of the punishment’s execution.

A criminal file for influence peddling was opened on this case. The suspects were placed in CNA’s isolation ward for 72 hours.
