Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/ - The emergency state might be extended in Moldova by another 60 days starting from 6 December 2022. The cabinet today issued a decision to this effect, based on a decision by the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE). The document is to be unveiled in parliament for approval, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The need to prolong the state of emergency is prompted by the persistent risks and threats which regard the national security and supply of Moldova with energy resources for the cold period of the year. The latest Russia’s attacks with missiles, which targeted the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, had a negative impact on Moldova’s energy security.
Thus, the Moldovan authorities will be able to promptly intervene, if necessary, in order to take additional decisions to those provided for in the present legal framework, in order to ensure the energy security, manage the flow of refugees and prevent the risks to security and public order.
