Chisinau, Dec. 1 /MOLDPRES/- Energocom today sent a congratulatory message on Romania's National Day, thanking the neighboring state for keeping the light on in the Republic of Moldova.
"We thank our colleagues across the Prut who were receptive to concluding bilateral electricity supply contracts and who stood by us when we were put in a position to procure energy from a European country for the first time. This crisis has hardened us and made us stronger. Only together we managed to get over more easily and use the opportunities", writes Energocom.
From December 1, Energocom will again procure electricity from the Romanian company Hidroelectrica – 100 MWh band on December 1-11 and 20 MWh band on December 12-31. The purchase price, according to this contract, is 450 RON/MWh.
Thus, from December 1, the volume of electricity supplied from Romania based on bilateral contracts will increase to 5100 MWh on working days and 5800 MWh on weekends from the daily requirement of about 10000 MWh.
The energy sector of the Republic of Moldova is affected by the war started by Russia in Ukraine. It was forced to stop energy exports after the Russian bombings, which destroyed a good part of the Ukrainian energy infrastructure at the beginning of October. At the same time, the Russian company Gazprom unilaterally reduced gas supplies to the Republic of Moldova, and the so-called Tiraspol authorities announced that the Kuciurgan plant will no longer provide 70% of the electricity needed on the right bank of the Dniester.
