Over 15,000 people from north Moldova to have access to drinking water

Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/ - The residents of the districts of  Ungheni, Nisporeni, Glodeni and Falesti will have access to natural resources of supply with drinking water. The parliament today ratified an agreement concluded between Romania and Moldova, which provides for the construction of an aqueduct.  

At the same time, the parliament ratified also a protocol on amendments as to the regulation of the building of new aqueducts.

Under the document, the aqueduct will have a length of 54 km. Thus, over 15,000 people from 13 settlements will have access to quality drinking water.  

According to the agreement, on the territory of Romania and Moldova, up to the interconnection points, including the crossing of the border, the works will be carried out by the regional water and sewerage supply operator from Romania. At the same time, spending will be needed, due to be borne by Moldova’s government, in order to connect the settlements from nearby the aqueduct constructed.   

Seventy lawmakers voted for the draft of ratification of the agreement in two readings.
