Moldova imported gas for first time on Trans-Balkan corridor

Chisinau, Dec. 3 /MOLDPRES/- Energocom announced last night that it imported gas, in a test regime, on the trans-Balkan corridor.

In order to diversify the sources of purchasing natural gas and ensure the energy security of the country, Energocom purchased a quantity of gas from the Mediterranean area, to test how this corridor works in reverse.

"4.3 million cubic meters of gas were imported through the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector, via Romania, being transported to Ukraine. In the past, the trans-Balkan corridor operated only from north to south, now a transport premiere in the opposite direction has been achieved, with non-Russian gas", said Energocom.

According to the acting director of Energocom, Victor Bînzari, there are several potential gas sources under discussion. It is being tested, with different volumes, including the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline coming to Chisinau, just as other routes in the region will be tested.

"Energocom must have built bridges and relationships with as many companies from European countries as possible, so that the Republic of Moldova is guaranteed one hundred percent with natural gas and electricity", summarized the head of Energocom.
