Moldovan president meets USAID administrator in Washington

Chisinau, Dec. 6 /MOLDPRES/- President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu started her visit to the United States of America yesterday with a meeting with Samantha Power, USAID administrator, a good friend of our country. Maia Sandu thanked the United States for supporting including through USAID programs our efforts to transform people's lives for the better for over 30 years, the presidential press service has reported.
"Since 1992, thanks to over 1.7 billion dollars in funds provided to our country, the United States has been helping Moldova modernize its economy, creating small and medium enterprises; agriculture - in particular, the wine sector; to develop tourism, light and creative industry", said Maia Sandu. The head of state also mentioned that the American partners support us in our commitment to get rid of corruption and reform justice, in strengthening civil society and independent media.
"I also thanked for the aid worth USD 75 million in humanitarian assistance and almost USD 124 million in economic and security assistance, to manage the consequences of the war in the neighborhood and to face the worst energy crisis so far," Maia Sandu said.
Maia Sandu is visiting the USA on December 5-7.
