Chisinau, Dec. 6 /MOLDPRES/- President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu had a meeting in Washington with Michael McCaul, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives in the US Congress. The officials discussed the Moldovan-American relations and the support offered by the partners in the United States for our reform agenda.
According to the presidential press service, the head of state expressed gratitude for the adoption by the US Congress, in April 2022, of a resolution that reaffirms support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and democratic path of Moldova. She appreciated the US decision to put nine people and 12 entities on the sanctions list for serious acts of corruption, harming the state's wealth and promoting Russia's influence in our country. Maia Sandu emphasized that such actions help us continue the effort to eradicate corruption and strengthen state institutions.
Maia Sandu said that Moldova still relies on the support of the United States in carrying out reforms, including in the country's EU accession process. We also need support to ensure energy independence.
On December 5-7, Maia Sandu visits Washington.
