Contract with MGRES welcomed by USA, energy community

Chisinau, Dec. 7 /MOLDPRES/- US Ambassador to Moldova Kent D. Logsdon in a phone conversation yesterday with Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development congratulated Moldova on concluding an agreement with Moldavskaya GRES for the power supply.
"This agreement represents an important step in Moldova's efforts to strengthen its energy security and to minimize the increase in prices for consumers", the US Embassy in Chisinau said.
The ambassador promised the continuous support of the USA for the power needs of the Republic of Moldova.
Secretariat of the Energy Community welcomed the agreement concluded between Energocom, Moldova's public electricity trader, and the Denstrovsk Power Plant (MGRES) on power supply for December and the following period.
Last week, Energocom company signed the electricity supply contract with the Dnestrovsk Power Plant (MGRES) for December. According to Spînu, this contract is a reasonable compromise to ensure the citizens on both banks of the Dniester with electricity and gas. "We agreed to have the same agreement for January, February and March. The right bank will receive the entire amount of electricity at the price of 73 dollars/MW", according to the quoted source.
After the signing of the contract with MGRES, the Commission for Emergency Situations decided that the Premier Energy and Furnizaria Energiei Electrice Nord company will submit to the National Agency for Energy Regulation the price adjustment request for the power supply. The new rates will be applied starting December 2.
