Ministry of Economy proposed normative changes on e-commerce

Chisinau, Dec. 8 /MOLDPRES/- Yesterday, the Ministry of Economy proposed a new set of initiatives on amending the regulatory framework related to electronic commerce.

According to a legislative initiative, which will be approved at one of the upcoming meetings, the ministry is going to eliminate some constraints that hinder the development of e-commerce, these being identified in dialogue with the business community and development partners.

"11 normative acts will be amended, including provisions relating to: updating the legislation on internal trade and supplementing it with the provisions on electronic trade; increasing consumer protection in online commerce by requiring merchants to have places to return goods; obliging online sellers of alcohol to verify the age of the buyer, including by delivery staff; exempting units that practice online trading with precious metals from the obligation to have a surface of 12 square meters for carrying out the activity", the Ministry of Economy said.

It is also provided for obliging merchants to apply identical discounts, regardless of the means of payment (cash or non-cash) preferred by the buyer, as well as informing buyers about the accepted payment instruments/means; regulating the organization and conduct of general meetings of associates/board members of companies by electronic means, as well as the electronic submission of the registration file to the state registration body.

"One of my priorities as Minister of Economy is the promotion of electronic commerce. We will eliminate all legal and bureaucratic barriers to electronic commerce, so that entrepreneurs can do business online without any impediment", minister Dumitru Alaiba said.
