Over 100 cases of influenza registered in Moldova last week

Chisinau, 14 December /MOLDPRES/ - The National Public Health Agency (ANSP) has said that 103 cases of seasonal flu and 13,195 ones of acute respiratory infections were registered last week.

According to ANSP, most cases of influenza – 76, - were recorded in Chisinau, 12 in Balti, 4 in Falesti, 2 in Edinet and one case in Drochia, Leova, Orhei, Sangerei, Soroca and Ungheni each.

In ANSP laboratories, 351 samples last week were investigated at the presence of flu and non-flu viruses, as well as SARS-CoV-2, collected from people with symptoms compatible with seasonal flu and acute viral respiratory infections. Thirty of these samples were positive at the presence of flu viruses (27-A(H3N2), 2-A(H1N1) and 1-type B) and the non-flu virus RSV in 26 samples.

Since early last October so far, 178 cases of flu and 154 cases of acute respiratory infections have been registered. The share of the cases of acute respiratory infections out of the overall number of hospitalizations in medical institutions, no matter the cause, varied between 2.9 and 4.8 per cent.
