Moldovan electoral body verifies financial reports of political parties for first half of 2022

Chisinau, 15 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has verified the reports on the financial management of the political parties for the first half of this year.  

According to CEC, the financial reports submitted by 52 political parties were verified. Another three formations did not present information on the management of the financial resources. Contravention suits were initiated against the latter.  

Thus, the Commission found out that the financial reports submitted by 14 political parties contained full information and were completed in line with the legal provisions. At the same time, the figure 0 in all sections is presented in the reports unveiled by 13 political parties. In the context, 28 political parties committed insignificant errors of calculation, wrong coverage of sums from donations, as well as of expenses.   

Following the reports’ analysis, CEC ascertained the exceeding of the ceiling of donations by the Liberal Party. Thus, the Commission summoned the formation to transfer to the state budget a sum of 12,120 lei (about 600 euros), received above the ceiling stipulated by the law.   

At the same time, CEC found out the refusal by the Shor Political Party to present the primary documents which justify the revenues and expenses borne in the first half of this year. ‘’This fact runs counter the legal provisions as to the financing of the political parties and a result, CEC was unable to check the correctness of the information put down in the report on the financial management. On this case, the Commission notified the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office for the examination of the way the Shor Political Party was financed on the period 1 January – 30 June 2022, including from the viewpoint of the infringements ascertained by the Commission,’’’ reads a press release by CEC.  

Fifty five political parties were obliged to submit the reports on the financial management for the first half of this year.
