Chisinau, 15 December /MOLDPRES/ - A motion on the support of Moldova, submitted by the parliamentary factions of the ruling coalition, SPD, The Greens and FDP, was adopted at the 75th session of the German parliament by majority voting.
The resolution reads, inter alia, that ‘’since Russia’s brutal invasion in Ukraine on 24 February 2022, which runs counter the international law and the imperialistic statements of the Russian leadership as to the countries neighbouring Russia, Moldova sees its security threatened.’’ At the same time, since the election of Maia Sandu to the office of president in 2020, ‘’the country committed to a courageous and ambitious course of reforms and rapprochement with the European Union.’’
Besides the continuation of backing the country’s accession t EU, the German MPs urge the Berlin government to speak out, at the European level, for the reformation of the process of accession and provide Moldova with direct budgetary support, on special purpose, in order to overcome the immediate challenges of the country.
Other requests regard the diminution of the energy dependence on Russia, extension of the transport infrastructure, mobilization of investments, including within the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, as well as the providing of assistance to the refugees from Moldova, especially as concerns the protection of women and children.
At the same time, the German federal government is called on to declare for the continuation of the dialogue, in order to ensure Moldova’s territorial integrity as regards the Transnistrian region and, in this context, to back the OSCE Mission in Moldova, as well as the direct contacts between the Moldovan government and the country’s Transnistrian region.
