Chisinau, 19 December /MOLDPRES/ - Romania will permanently be with Moldova, when needed and will continue to actively get involved internationally, in order to support Chisinau’s efforts of European integration. Statements to this effect were made at a today’s joint news conference of the Moldovan and Romanian foreign affairs ministers, Nicu Popescu and Bogdan Aurescu, respectively.
The Moldovan diplomacy head, Nicu Popescu, thanked Romania and the Bucharest leadership for the support provided in the last years, as well as for the support in the energy crisis.
„The today’s meeting is the 14th this year. This was a complicated year and a historical one, when we managed to become country candidate for accession to EU. Each citizen feels Romania’s support, through joint projects implemented. Romania is also the biggest economic partner of Moldova. This year, the commercial relations between Moldova and Romania have grown by over 40 per cent and the value of foreign trade might reach the figure of 3.5 billion dollars,’’ Popescu said.
For his part, Bogdan Aurescu welcomed the outstanding dynamic of the bilateral commercial exchanges, which registered an accelerated growth and stressed the need of the increase in the Romanian investments in Moldova and of the creation of better conditions of the business environment.
„This was not an easy year. This was maybe the most difficult year in all our diplomatic career. We overcame this year well due to our boosted cooperation. We have been permanent in touch and not only we, - our presidents, our prime ministers. Moldova has chance to be the only state of the world which has two foreign affairs ministers. There is no meeting or diplomatic contact which I have without mentioning Moldova and the need of defending the interests of Moldova’ citizens. We had a substantial discussion today. We spoke about the cooperation projects which we have together. Romania will permanently be with Moldova when needed,’’ Bogdan Aurescu said.
Foreign Affairs Minister of Romania Bogdan Aurescu is on a working visit to Moldova today.
