Threshold for average vulnerability level lowered - labor minister says

Chisinau, Dec. 20 /MOLDPRES/- Threshold for average vulnerability level has been lowered, thus increasing the number of families that will benefit from higher energy compensations. Minister of Labor and Social Protection Marcel Spatari made the statement yesterday.

According to the official, so far this category included people for whom energy expenses represent more than 20% of income. "This threshold has been lowered to 15% to increase the number of families that will benefit from higher compensations for energy. Thus, starting next month, several beneficiaries, who now fall into the low vulnerability category, will find themselves in the medium category. Changes will be visible in the information system," said Marcel Spatari.

At the same time, starting in December, people who registered on the www.compensatii.gov.md portal and do not have very large properties will be transferred from the non-vulnerable category to the low-vulnerability one. "In this way we want to support citizens who work and declare their income. Likewise, it is important that they are not disadvantaged compared to people who have not registered in the system. Starting next month, those who have not registered on the platform will be classified as low vulnerability. In November, they were placed in the medium category", he said.

The official also announced that this week, people will be able to request in the Personal Cabinet information on performing the calculation to determine the degree of vulnerability. At the same time, citizens were urged to report all deficiencies so that the authorities could intervene.

People can register on the www.compensatii.gov.md platform until March inclusively. Compensation for these consumers will be granted starting from the following month after the month in which they registered.

According to the calculations, to pay the compensations during the cold period (November 2022 - December 2023) about 5 billion lei (about 250 million euros) will be needed, with 870 million lei being allocated from the state budget this year.
