Chisinau, Dec. 21 /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu was in Soroca district on Tuesday and met with residents of Rublenita and Dărcăuți villages, the presidential press service has reported.

Maia Sandu said that the government's priority this year was to maintain peace in the country and in society, and work will be further done for this.

"We talked about the problems of the communities, the economic and social situation in the country. I said that economic development is the path to prosperity. Despite all the crises, we must continue to improve the business environment and support small and medium-sized enterprises. The local public administration must create conditions for the opening of small businesses in localities," said Maia Sandu.

The official said that business development means more jobs, higher incomes and more resources for the country's budget, including for the development of communities. Both localities benefit this year from funding through the European Village Program - for street lighting and access to quality water.

Maia Sandu had a discussion with several young women and men from the Dacia Youth Resource Center in Soroca. They talked about the involvement of women in politics, the foreign policy that the head of state promotes, about education and the problem of violence against women in our country.

"I am convinced once again that our young people have great potential. I encouraged them to persevere at school and in the community, to contribute to the common good and to follow their dreams with passion", said Maia Sandu.
