Chisinau, Dec. 21 /MOLDPRES/- A water mill dating from the end of the 19th century was restored with the support of the European Union's Confidence-Building Measures Programme, implemented by the UNDP Moldova. The mill is part of the ten cultural-historical objectives on both banks of the Dniester river that benefit from restoration and conservation works.
Following the restoration and conservation process, the mill building is protected from bad weather conditions and will last at least another 30 years. Also, the territory around the mill, which is located right on the course of the Beloch river, was developed.
"We could make an attractive tourist spot here. The objective is interesting, since the mill was built for those times with no metal and no cement, just stone by stone. For that period it is a colossal construction. Inside we have the equipment of those times preserved and which would serve as museum exhibits", according to Alexandru Maleandra, the owner of the water mill.
