New rescuers unit opened in Ștefan Vodă

Chisinau, Dec. 21 /MOLDPRES/- A new unit of rescuers and firemen of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of the MAI was opened in the southern Moldova. Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, Minister of Internal Affairs Ana Revenco, Deputy Chief of Mission of the United States Embassy in Chisinau Laura Hruby participated in the inauguration event, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The unit, whose construction lasted a year and a half, covers an area of over 0.4 ha and includes administrative offices, three spacious boxes for the location of the intervention technique, a mini-soccer field and a runway for the landing of SMURD helicopters.
"I hope this building will not only be a starting point for emergency vehicles, but also a point of attraction for citizens of all ages, who will be involved in education and training measures to raise the level of civil protection of citizens. As we often face all kinds of natural disasters in this region, it is extremely important that people know how to act in a crisis. Just as it is important to have well-trained volunteers who, if necessary, can support the rescuers and firefighters", said Natalia Gavrilița.
The unit was built with the support of the Department of Defense of the United States of America, and a consistent contribution of the Government of the Republic of Moldova and Ștefan Vodă District Council.
23 rescuers and firefighters will work here. They will ensure the security of about 65 thousand inhabitants from 26 localities of Ștefan Vodă district.
