Moldovan government ruled to set up national fiscal monopoly commission

Chisinau, Dec. 21 /MOLDPRES/- The cabinet today approved setting up National Fiscal Monopoly Commission and Regulation on its organization and operation, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The commission will determine the need to establish the fiscal monopoly for certain economic activities; will assess the impact of granting tax monopoly status, including economic advantages and disadvantages; will propose to the Government for consideration the assignment or withdrawal of the tax monopoly status to an enterprise or a group of enterprises.
The mechanism aims to protect citizens and society by promoting the public interest in the economic activity carried out by economic agents. Thus, the state can act indirectly, through taxes, fees, licenses, the government guarantee of some credits, the launch of state orders.
The commission is a collegial body, with an advisory character, without the status of a legal entity. It is made up of representatives of public authorities and civil society.
