European Investment Bank to allocate 100 million euros to continue Moldova Roads III project

Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/ - The works of construction and rehabilitation of national roads will continue in 2023 as well. The government today approved the ratification of the contract on financing between Moldova and the European Investment Bank (EIB) for the supply and carrying out, in continuation, of the Moldova Roads III project, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The project sees the attraction of additional sources worth 100 million euros, provided by EIB, in order to supply and carry out, in continuation, national roads’ rehabilitation works. Also, the rehabilitation of new objects is envisaged and namely:
Rehabilitation of the road R34 Hancesti – Leova – Cahul – Giurgiulesti, segment III, Cantemir – Cahul;
M3 Chisinau – Comrat – Giurgiulesti – border with Romania, construction of the lacking segment, the bypass road of the Cimislia town.
Feasibility studies and project documentation were worked out for the aforementioned road segments; thus, the procedure of purchasing the works will be launched immediately after the approval of their financing.
The project’s implementation will contribute to the improvement of the state and quality of national roads, including in order to enhance the mobility and efficiency of transport all over Moldova. Also, new jobs will be created and the economic development will be backed through investments brought for roads’ rehabilitation and building.
