President hands distinctions to more personalities from Moldova

Chisinau, 22 December /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today handed distinctions to more personalities from Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.
The participants in a solemn ceremony honoured the performance and success achieved in the professional activity by performance sportspeople, coaches, culture people, researchers, teachers, agriculture employees.
„I said that, in a difficult year for all of us, the best answer we can give to the Evil represent our good things which we make day after day – working honestly, taking care of our close people, contributing to the well-being of the country and its good name. Each of the awarded people has done this with self-denial, effort and involvement. At home or abroad, on field or in laboratory, on stage, on ring or at the department, they worked to do good to people and bring happiness, so that the development is stronger than the destruction,’’ President Maia Sandu told the participants in the event.
The head of state expressed gratitude for their contribution to the country’s development. ‘’I thanked them as, through what they do, they are the edifiers of Moldova and I called on them to remain united, in order to resist to crises. We can make Moldova prosperous and free together. In solidarity, we can edify the modern country which we want and our European future. I am sure that we can succeed through people and the today laureates represent a good example in this respect,’’ Maia Sandu said.
At the festivity, the head of state also handed three distinctions posthumously: to the former ambassador, Valeriu Turea, and to two participants in the Transnistria War – Grigorii Caruntu and Aurel Cuconescu, who was mayor of the Varnita village. ‘’We thus honoured their memory and deeds,’’ the Moldovan president added in her speech.
