Performance sportspeople to receive higher scholarships in Moldova

Chisinau, 28 December /MOLDPRES/ - Performance sportspeople will receive increased monthly scholarships starting from 1 January 2023. The cabinet approved a decision to this end today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.     

At the same time, the cabinet of ministers voted for the adjusting of the annual monthly scholarship, provided depending on the level of the sportsperson’s performance. The quantum of the scholarship will be adapted annually, according to the average salary on the economy.    

Thus, the quantum of the scholarship will be of 5 average salaries on the economy for golden medal got at Olympic Games, 4 average salaries on the economy for the silver medal at the Olympic and Paralympic Games or the golden medal at the World Championship. Sportspeople will receive 3 average salaries on the economy for bronze medal at Olympic and Paralympic Games, silver medal at World Championships or golden medal at the European Championship.     

As much as 19 million lei was allocated from the state budget for the payment of the scholarships of the performance sportspeople in 2023, which is by 8 million lei more against 2022.
