Chisinau, 28 December /MOLDPRES/ - The badge issued in the technical inspection process will be digitalized. The cabinet today approved the amendments, in order to simplify the process of documenting vehicles subjected to technical inspection, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Under the draft’s provisions, the badge is to have the shape of a barcode due to be applied in the report of the periodical technical inspection. Thus, these amendments will allow cutting by about 6.5 million lei annually the operational expenses borne by the National Auto Transport Agency (ANTA) and the authorized technical inspection stations.
Presently, the purchasing price of the badge is of 10 lei and 650,000 badges are annually ordered and bought. At the same time, on the period 2019-2020, ANTA annulled and destroyed 77,000 non-used badges worth 314, 924.66 lei.
Also, the situations in which these badges were lost in the process of exploiting transport means and drivers were obliged to appeal to technical inspection stations for the issuance of a report and of other badge will be excluded.
The data from the AUTOTEST Information System, held by ANTA, is available on the MConnect interoperability platform and the authorities in charge of control in traffic have access to information on the validity of vehicles’ technical inspection.
At the same time, the draft does not exclude the obligation to annually subject the vehicle to technical inspection, in order to be able to move on public roads and for the non-observance of this obligation, in line with the Contravention Code’s provisions, the vehicle’s exploitation can be banned through the withdrawal of the registration plates.
The draft is to be implemented as of 1 January 2023
