Consumer prices increased by about 30% in 2022

Chisinau, 11 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- Consumer prices in 2022 increased on average by 28.7% compared to the previous year. The National Statistics Bureau (BNS) unveiled the data.
At the same time, in December 2022, compared to the same month in 2021 (in the last 12 months), average consumer prices increased by 30.2%. The increase was influenced in particular by the increase in the prices of food products by 31.8%, non-food goods by 19.9% and services by 44%.
Among food products, during the past year, the prices of eggs, vegetables, sugar, fruit, bakery products, milk, meat and vegetable oil increased the most. Fuel prices increased by almost 36%. At the same time, prices for electricity supply services increased 2.7 times and for natural gas supply services - 1.8 times.
In 2022, citizens also paid more for transport services, the increase being over 63 percent, and for public food services (by 26%).
The BNS notes that the Government's compensation for the payment of energy bills for household consumers contributed to mitigating the annual increase in average consumer prices by 2.6%.
