Chisinau, 11 January /MOLDPRES/ - There is no acute deficit of a certain type of antiviral medicines in Moldova. If a preparation is lacking in drug stores, it can be replaced by an analogous product. Health Minister Ala Nemerenco made statements to this effect in the beginning of a today’s cabinet meeting.

‘’There is no acute deficit of a certain type of medication, as they can be completed by certain analogous medicines. At the same time, we no longer receive medicines which were imported from Ukraine and Russia, while in Romania these groups of medicines are stocked on their market. I discussed with my counterpart from Romania, so that the ordinance of the Romanian government, under which the exports of medicines are banned, contains an exception for Moldova, so that these medicines can be found on our market as well,’’ Ala Nemerenco noted.

The head of the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency, Dragos Gutu, said the institution permanently monitored the stocks of medicines. ‘Presently, we do not have a problem. The stocks have slightly diminished at some producers, especially the syruped forms for children,’’ Gutu noted.

Referring to the number of people sick, Nemerenco said that a situation characteristic for the winter season was recorded at present. ‘’There is an increase against the 2022 year; yet, in comparison with the pre-pandemic years, we do not have, in general, an increase, both in the acute viral respiratory infections and in the severe respiratory ones. Currently, we have a stable line of infection by flu for a three-week period. A decrease is even registered at the viral infections against the last week. We have a drop in the number of hospitalizations among children. Yet, the pressure continues to be high,’’ Ala Nemerenco added.
