Chisinau, 16 January /MOLDPRES/ - Secretary of State of the Ministry for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Sweden Diana Janse is on a visit to Moldova on 16-17 January.
According to the Embassy of Sweden in Chisinau, the visit takes place in the context of the taking over by Sweden of the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the ample consequences of Ukraine's invasion by Russia.
„The continuous support provided to Ukraine and Moldova is a major goal of foreign policy and a priority for Sweden. We see that Moldova is directly hit by the Russian aggression against Ukraine and that the country took a huge responsibility through the reception of a large number of refugees,’’ Diana Janse said.
The official also stressed that Sweden would provide every needed support for the European integration of Moldova. ‘’Moldova’s future is in Europe and we congratulate the country for the fact that it received the status of candidate for member of the European Union. The way towards accession is long and needs a diligent work on behalf of all institutions. Sweden will be with Moldova during all this process,’’ Janse noted.
During the official visit, State Secretary Diana Janse will meet Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu, Interior Minister Ana Revenco, Environment Minister Iordanca - Rodica Iordanov, as well as representatives of the civil society, local authorities and international partners.
