Over 7,000 cases of virosis, influenza registered in schools, kinderergartens of Moldova

Chisinau, 16 January /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 7,463 cases of acute viral respiratory infections and seasonal influenza were registered in schools and kindergartens from Moldova last week. The figures were unveiled by the Education and Research Ministry (MEC) today.
Thus, 4,272 out of all cases were recorded in kindergartens and 3,191 ones in primary and secondary schools. At the same time, 200 teachers fell sick during one week too.
In these conditions, MEC sent a circular letter to the local specialty bodies in the education sector, thereby recommending the optimization of the prophylaxis measures, in order to prevent the respiratory diseases and diminish the risk of falling sick.
The Ministry also asked the leaders of the general education institutions to get involved in diverse actions of anti-epidemiological control, such as: daily monitoring of pupils’ attendance and identifying the reasons of the absences from classes; organization and carrying out of education activities in the best conditions; observing the personal and collective hygiene, especially the hands’ hygiene; observing the regime of temperature and nourishment of children and pupils in education institutions; maintaining the cleanliness in rooms and periodical airing of education classrooms.
