Moldovan deputy premier meets Special Representative of OSCE Chairperson-in-Office on Gender

Chisinau, 25 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian had a meeting today with Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office on Gender Liliana Palihovici and OSCE Senior Adviser on Gender Issues Lara Scarpitta, the Reintegration Policy Office has reported.
The discussions focused on the activities related to the good implementation by the Republic of Moldova of the international commitments regarding the gender dimension, including those arising from the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
Serebrian pointed out the need to promote on both banks of the Dniester international norms in respecting women's rights, with the assurance of prompt intervention by the actors involved in the process.
Palihovici emphasized the importance of promoting a good understanding by the OSCE member states, especially of the international security implications that can be generated by gender inequalities and the representation of women in the processes of ensuring peace and security, as well as on democracy and development durable.
The sides agreed to continue an active interaction on the areas of responsibility under management in order to attract the necessary support from external partners and to achieve the expected results.
