Moldovan parliament speaker has official meeting with president of Turkey

Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has had an official meeting with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara. The officials discussed the security situation in the region and the challenges triggered by Russia’s war in Ukraine, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
At the meeting, the Moldovan speaker appreciated Turkey’s efforts to ensure the corridor of transportation of cereals from Ukraine. Grosu thanked the Ankara authorities for the humanitarian assistance provided to Moldova in 2022, in order to cope with the crisis of refugees and the support provided during the meetings of the Moldova Support Platform.
At the same time, the parliament speaker stressed that Moldova was interested in the boosting of the commercial exchanges with Turkey and attraction of investments, as well as in the consolidation of the cooperation in the energy sector.
„The ensuring of the energy security is a priority subject on our agenda and we are interested in the Turkish investors to come to Moldova with energy efficiency projects and not only. I am sure that the close partnership between our countries will help us overcome the difficulties and the uncertainty caused by the war in Ukraine, which has lasted for more than 11 month already,’’ Igor Grosu said.
For his part, President Erdogan thanked for the invitation to participate in the European Political Community, which will take place in Chisinau on 1 June 2023.
