Over 1,600 Ukrainian children study in schools in Moldova

Chisinau, 27 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- A number of 1,665 refugee children from Ukraine study in schools in the Republic of Moldova. The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) unveiled the data at a meeting of the working group in the education, created in response to the refugee crisis in the neighboring country.
According to official statistics, 43,457 minor refugees from Ukraine have arrived in our country so far. 1,665 of them were enrolled at 229 schools in our country. They benefit from the same conditions. At the same time, 160 children learn in Romanian, and 1005 - in Russian. 702 children from the neighboring country are enrolled in early education institutions.
State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Research Adriana Cazacu said that it is necessary to mobilize all resources so that all children benefit from full access to education, respecting their primary right.
The working group members said that the Action Plan for 2023 is being finalized and will be approved at the next meeting. Each of the parties is to present its own proposals and actions, so that the plan covers all the needs of children from refugee families.
