Ten finalists to compete in Eurovision National Final 2023

Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/ - The jury members have informed about who are those ten artists who would sing in the National Final due on 4 March, following the holding of the live hearings from the National Eurovision Selection 2023 on 28 January evening.

According to the organizers, the band Sunstroke Project got the largest number of points (55). In 2017, this band achieved the best result for Moldova at the Eurovision Contest, the third place, with the song, Hey Mamma. This year, the band’s members presented the song, Yummy Mommy.

Pasha Parfeni had by two points less, with the song Soarele și Luna (The Sun and Moon). Parfeni sang for Moldova in 2012, when he ranked 11th with the Lautar (Fiddler) song.  

Those 10 finalists were elected based on the jury’s voting. The jury was made up of singer, choir conductor Viola Julea, the head of the Radio Moldova Muzical, Ion Chiorpec, the artistic head of the Advahov Brothers Orchestra, People’s Artist Vasile Advahov, composer, People’s Artist Liviu Stirbu and journalist Daniela Crudu.

This year, the 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Liverpool, the United Kingdom. The public TV and radio broadcasters from 37 countries will compete on 9, 11 and 13 May. Thirty one countries will compete for 20 places in the Great Final, along with France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the host of the contest, the UK, and Ukraine, the winner of the 2022 edition of the contest. The contest is hosted by BBC in the United Kingdom, in the name of Ukraine, following the victory of Kalush Orchestra in Turin, in May 2022.
