About 4,300 cases of respiratory infections recorded last week in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 30 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- About 4,300 cases of respiratory infections were registered in the capital last week, about a hundred less than the previous week. The head of the General Directorate of Medical and Social Assistance, Boris Gîlca, made the statement at today's operational meeting of the municipal services.
According to the official, out of the number of cases, 50% were children. At the same time, 104 cases of influenza were confirmed, 70 of whom were hospitalized.
Also, last week, 104 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the capital, 40 more than the previous week. At the same time, three cases of death were registered. Health specialists have warned about possible contagion with the Kraken variant, a substrain of SARS-CoV-2, and recommend citizens to get vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine.
In the context of the current epidemiological situation, specialists recommend that upon the appearance of the first symptoms specific to respiratory infections - fever, cough, sneezing, headache, weakness, people should contact their family doctor.
