Chisinau, Feb. 7 /MOLDPRES/- Currently, the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office represents the state prosecution in court regarding 12 judges, 15 prosecutors and 24 lawyers. Head of the prosecutor's office Veronica Dragălin made the statement.
The official said that the institution declared zero tolerance for judicial corruption. "Last week, the judges also sent a strong message - people who commit acts of corruption, who discredit and compromise the justice system, will be sentenced to real years in prison. Thus, on February 2, 2023, the Supreme Court of Justice definitively sentenced a lawyer to three years in prison for influence peddling. Also last week, the Edineț Court sentenced a criminal investigation officer to three years in prison for influence peddling, and the Bălți Court sentenced a young woman to three years in prison for complicity in influence peddling, allegedly on public figures within the MAI" , Drăgălin said.
The corruption "is an increased social danger, manifested in particular by discrediting and compromising the activity of state authorities, power and public services".
"We are receiving complaints and prosecuting other corrupt actors in the justice system, and we will continue our work to the end - to eliminate corruption from law enforcement bodies as quickly as possible, to gain the trust of society, and to ensure that the law is enforced effectively equal and legal only in the interest of the citizens and the country", Drăgălin said.
