Moldovan National Anticorruption Centre detains man from Cahul in file on influence peddling

Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/ - A man from the southern Cahul city has been detained by officers of the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) and anticorruption prosecutors in a file on influence peddling. He would have claimed 950 euros and 6,800 lei from another local resident, in order to help his son pass the examination for getting the driver’s licence.
According to CNA, the suspect would have said that he would have influence on civil servants of the Transport Registration and Drivers’ Qualification Section from Cahul and on decision-makers from the driving school of the settlement and that he can prompt them to favour the candidate to pass the theoretical and practical examinations.
The man was detained for 72 hours and placed in the temporary detention ward of the Cahul police inspectorate. He has status of accused person also in another file on influence peddling, sent to court in 2022.
