Chisinau, 10 February /MOLDPRES/ - The parliamentary Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BECS) has refused to participate in the consultations initiated by President Maia Sandu, in order to nominate a candidate for the office of prime minister. BECS head Vlad Batrincea made statements to this effect at a news briefing today.
The MP informed that the Bloc approved the resignation of PM Natalia Gavrilita; yet, he described it ‘’as late.’’
„We received the president’s invitation to take part in consultations. Nevertheless, in such a short period, those 32 lawmakers will not manage to hold political consultations, in order to come up with a common position. At the same time, the Bloc will not participate in the procedure of swearing in office of a new cabinet in the current parliamentary majority. We speak out, in continuation, for snap elections,’’ Batrincea said.
Under the legal procedures, following the prime minister’s resignation, the head of state initiated consultations with the parliamentary factions and will subsequently nominate a candidate for the position of prime minister.
