Moldova-United Kingdom cooperation in military sector discussed in Chisinau

Chisinau, 13 February /MOLDPRES/ - Minister of State for the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland James Heappey pays an official visit to Moldova for the first time ever. In the context, acting Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatii today had a meeting with the British official.
The two ministers discussed subjects on the bilateral cooperation in the military sector and perspectives for their boosting, the reform carried out in the National Army, as well as the security situation in the region.
Minister Nosatii said that the United Kingdom had represented an important strategic partner for Moldova since the establishment of the first diplomatic relations, through the direct and indirect support provided for the democratic implementation of the reforms in Moldova.
At the same time, the Moldovan official thanked the UK for expertise and opportunities of training for National Army servicemen at British competent institutions, as well as for the support provided in the context of the carrying out of the Professional Development Programme (PDP) and the Defence Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI).
For his part, James Heappey said the British government would continue backing the National Army in the achieving of the goal of transformation, in accordance with the western standards.
In Chisinau, Minister of State for the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom James Heappey has planned meetings with Moldovan government’s representatives.
