Moldovan acting deputy PM for reintegration has meeting with British Minister of State for Armed Forces

Chisinau, 13 February /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Deputy Prime Minister  Oleg Serebrian has had a meeting with Minister of State for the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland James Heappey, accompanied by a delegation of the British Ministry of Defence, on a fact-collecting visit to Moldova, the Reintegration Policies Bureau reported.   

The officials brought for discussion subjects on the security situation in the region, developments recorded in the Transnistrian settlement process, Moldovan authorities’ efforts to contribute to maintaining stability and security, adapting themselves, at the same time, to the new regional realities and challenges triggered by the war in the neighbour country – Ukraine.   

Oleg Serebrian evoked the efforts undertaken by the national institutions for managing the vulnerabilities and solving the problems coming from the complex nature of the regional situation, with the preservation of the dialogue on the Transnistrian settlement in the technical formats of negotiations (1+1 and the one of the working groups), as well as the settlement by Moldova’s authorities of the current problems of the citizens on the two banks of Dniester.  

Also, the deputy PM emphasized the Moldovan authorities’ commitment to promote the approach of the peaceful and political settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, in the parameters of the unitary and fully functional state Republic of Moldova and with the reestablishment of all single spaces between the two banks of Dniester.

At the same time, Oleg Serebrian highlighted the need to achieve the goals of demilitarization and disarmament of the region, as factors due to contribute to the advancement in the process of the final settlement and to the completion of the country’s reintegration desideratum.
