Chisinau, 22 February /MOLDPRES/ - The requirements and procedures of providing licences for the providers of services will be simplified. A decision to this end has been approved at an initiative by the Economic Development and Digitalization Ministry, in the context of Moldova’s commitments in relation to the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS), the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The amendments to the list of commitments will allow including new rules and procedures, at a request by the business environment from more member states of the World Trade Organization (WTO). The additional provisions are aimed at facilitating the commerce with services, improving the business environment, as well as at reducing the commercial costs and generating wider commercial benefits. Moreover, decision-makers are to consider the practical challenges which hit the enterprises’ capacity, especially of the small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and providers to operate on external markets.
„It is essential that the providers of services and entrepreneurs are backed through a string of legislative initiatives, which would facilitate their work. The today’s initiative is important and is meant to complete the list of the already existing commitments, negotiated by 70 countries members of the World Trade Organization,’’ Deputy PM, Economic Development and Digitalization Minister Dumitru Alaiba said.
The trade with services represents the sector with the biggest and quickest growth of the present economy. In this respect, the norms and procedures of activity need to be as accessible and transparent as possible, in order not to jeopardize the commerce with services and the work of the providers in such sectors as: financial services, communications services, constructions, transport services.
