Moldovan foreign affairs minister has phone conversation with Japanese counterpart

Chisinau, 23 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has had a phone conversation with Foreign Affairs Minister of Japan Hayashi Yoshimasa.
According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service, the officials discussed subjects on the tense security and economic situation in the region, caused by Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine and the challenges faced by Moldova in this context.
„I expressed appreciations for the substantial contribution and assistance of Japan for our country, to cope with the refugees’ crisis, as well as for multiple projects on the development and strengthening of the state’s capacities, in such sectors as medicine, energy efficiency, agriculture, education, environmental protection and gender equality,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.
Also, the officials considered subjects on the development of the Moldovan-Japanese bilateral dialogue. Japan is a country with which we have been edified comprehensive cooperation relations during those 30 years since the establishment of the diplomatic ties, an important investor and commercial partner, which firmly supports the democratic processes and the European integration of Moldova.
In the end of the discussion, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu reconfirmed the willingness to further support the development of the Moldovan-Japanese friendship and cooperation relations in more fields, for the benefit of both nations.
