Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/ - The MPs of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) have registered in parliament a draft law for the implementation of the provisions of a ruling by the Constitutional Court (CCM). The document sees that the words ‘’the Moldovan language’’ should be replaced by ‘’the Romanian language’’ in the texts of the laws from Moldova, including the Constitution.
Under the document, which is to be considered in the parliamentary commissions, the words ‘’the state language’’, ‘’the official language’’ and ‘’the mother language’’, in any grammatical form, if the state language of the Republic of Moldova is regarded, is replaced by the words ‘’the Romanian language’’ in the proper grammatical form.
Also, decision-makers will find out the desuetude of the text ‘’working based on the Latin script’’ from the Article 13, paragraph (1) of Moldova’s Constitution.
„The present legislative initiative does not represent an ordinary initiative on the amendment of the Constitution, but a technical one, which comes from the compulsoriness of the fulfillment and/or implementation of the Constitutional Court’s acts,’’ the document reads.
The draft envisages that the Legal Information Resources Agency will provide the making of the amendments as to the state language – Romanian language, in the entire legislation of Moldova, including the Moldovan Constitution, in the State Register of Legal Acts information system. Also, the text, Our Language, is to be replaced by Romanian Language in the Labour Code and in the parliament’s decision on commemorative days, holidays and days off in Moldova.
CCM has earlier established that the official language of the Republic of Moldova is the Romanian language, just as it is put down in the Declaration of Independence.
