Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/ - The syntagm, ‘’Romanian language’’ will replace the ‘’Moldovan language’’ in all legislation of Moldova. The parliament adopted a draft to this end in the first reading at a plenary meeting today.
Also, the syntagms, ‘’official language,’’ ‘’state language’’ and ‘’mother language’’ will be replaced as well. The lawmakers are set to consider the desuetude of the text ‘’working based on the Latin script’’ from the Article 13 of the Constitution.
Also, on a period of 30 days after the law’s entrance into force, the public authorities with powers of adoption, approval or issuance of the normative acts inferior to the law will make the amendments needed. The draft also sees that the Our Language National Holiday, just as is presently named in the parliament’s decision on the commemorative days, holidays and days-off and in the Labour Code, should be called ‘’Romanian Language.’’
According to the authors, the conditions which imposed the working out of the present draft law come from the need and compulsoriness of implementing stipulations with constitutional value, contained in the acts of the High Court of Constitutional Jurisdiction and which states an incontestable postulate and namely that the state language of the Republic of Moldova is the Romanian language.
