More forestry enterprises from Moldova to work with new equipment

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - Forestry employees from Edinet, Nisporeni, Telenesti, Tighina and the Codrii (Forests) Nature Reserve earlier this week have received new equipment and technology needed for projects on increasing the afforested areas in Moldova.

„The technical endowment is of special importance on the agenda of forestry employees and during the time left till the starting of this spring planting works, it should bring also a new reality in the procurement of specialized technology and advanced equipment,’’ according to the Environment Ministry.

The national afforestation programme, initiated by President Maia Sandu, provides for the increase in the area of forests in Moldova, in order to enhance the resilience to the climate changes, as well as to conserve and develop the national forest resources. The programme was approved by the cabinet and envisages extended activities of planting trees and rehabilitation of the forest vegetation on an area of at least 145,000 hectares for the next ten-year period.
