Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Border Police today informed that a citizen, identified as a possible representative of the Wagner Private Military Company from Russia, had been detected in the flow of passengers at the Chisinau International Airport state border crossing point this week.
According to the Border Police, this was possible due to the measures undertaken, relying on the risk analysis and the information got from the national authorities, including through exchange of information with international partners. ‘’The concerned citizen was denied the crossing of the border and was returned by air to the state from where he departed,’’ the institution said.
In the last seven days, 156 events have been notified at the ‘’green ‘’border and the state border crossing points and 165 people were documented, who infringed the border and migration legislation of Moldova. Also, 208 orders were launched, of which 11 orders on Interpol (people, vehicles, documents) and 197 according to information received from the authorities for the protection of the national law norms. ‘’As many as 182 foreign citizens, as well as 46 cars were denied entry to Moldova,’’ according to the quoted source.
To exclude security risks, in the context of the emergency state in Moldova and the war started by Russia against Ukraine, security protocols are enforced at all border crossing points, which implies the supplementing of the state border crossing control for passengers, especially for foreign citizens.
