Chisinau, March 15. /MOLDPRES/- Starting from April this year, a new passport model will be put into circulation in the Republic of Moldova. A project in this sense was approved today by the Government.
"The circulation of the new passport model is done in the context of alignment with the recommendations of international institutions in the field, which require the periodic revision of the form and content of the identity document, optical and electronic reading technologies, to ensure global interoperability", indicates the Services Agency Public /ASP/.
According to the ASP, major changes were made to the most important and fraud-sensitive part of the passport blanket – the page with the holder's identification data. That page, which was previously made of paper, will be replaced by a polycarbonate one, customized by laser engraving. This technology enables the use of a wider range of security elements at levels verified by simply touching, looking and tilting the document alongside other hidden security elements verified with simple and laboratory equipment.
The new passport model (AP series) is to be put into circulation as the stock of passport blanks (AB series) is exhausted, but no later than April 30, 2023.
