Chisinau, March 15. /MOLDPRES/- Consumers will have more information about the content of food products. A project to amend the Law on consumer information on food products was approved today by the members of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture and Food Industry.
The project aims to ensure the protection of consumers' health and guarantee their right to full, correct and transparent information about food products.
The document stipulates that product labels must contain information about the presence of allergens, as well as the presence or absence of gluten in food. It will also indicate the country of origin or place of provenance of the primary ingredient, which is not the same as the country of origin or the stated place of provenance of the food product.
The authors of the project also propose the labeling of poultry meat, pork, meat preparations or meat products, as well as consumption eggs with the statement "Fed without genetically modified organisms" or "Fed without GMOs".
