Chisinau, March 16. /MOLDPRES/- A draft law aimed at regulating some aspects on the election of members in the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) and the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP) was voted today in the second reading by 58 MPs.
The document aims to exclude the situation of the perpetuation of interims or the vacancy of the position of member of the CSM, CSP and specialized colleges, which may be caused by the failure to meet the quorum necessary for the general meeting to be deliberative. Thus, if the General Assembly of judges or prosecutors did not take place due to lack of quorum, the repeated assembly may be held within a limited time, and the quorum for the repeated General Assembly will be reduced to 1/3.
At the same time, the document regulates the situation in which the General Assembly cannot be convened due to the expiration of the mandate of the CSM and CSP members, the lack of a quorum or in the event of a state of emergency. Under these conditions, the General Assembly of Judges is convened and opened by the president or interim president of the Council.
