Chisinau, March 16. /MOLDPRES/- The reform of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) was voted by the Parliament in the first reading at today's plenary session.
The document provides for the reorganization of the CSJ, including the revision of the powers of the Supreme Court of Justice. Also, a draft was set up to modify the procedure for examining cases by the CSJ. Thus, the Supreme Court of Justice will have more limited powers and will not act as an appeals court, as it currently is.
Among the most important provisions of the draft is reducing the number of CSJ judges. The authors of the document also propose changing the composition of the Supreme Court of Justice by ensuring access to the positions of judges of the CSJ for representatives of other legal professions, such as lawyers, prosecutors or university professors in the field of law.
