Parliamentary commission to select candidates for Ombudsman position

Chisinau, March 16. /MOLDPRES/- Parliament set up today the Commission for selecting candidates for Ombudsman position.

The Commission will have six members, representatives of the Human Rights and Interethnic Relations Commission and the legal commission on rules and immunities: Veronica Roșca, Ana Calinici, Vitali Gavrouc, Grigore Novac and Vasile Bolea.

The Commission is to adopt the Regulation on the organization and conduct of the public competition for the selection of candidates for Ombudsman position. Afterwards, within 60 days, the candidacies will be presented in the plenary session of the Parliament.

Currently, the People's Advocate for children's rights is Maia Bănărescu. Her mandate expires this April.
