Moldovan parliament ratified Protocol on determining country of origin of goods under GUAM

Chisinau, March 16. /MOLDPRES/- Parliament ratified today the Protocol on the Rules for determining the country of origin of the goods to the Agreement on the creation of the free trade area between the GUAM member states, signed in New York on 20 September 2022.
The document aims at developing commercial and economic cooperation based on equality and mutual benefit in the region, creating the conditions for the free movement of goods and services between the member states of the organization. In particular, the document aims to facilitate regional trade by improving goods records.
Among the most important clauses of the protocol is the one regarding the determination of the country of origin of the goods. This will be considered the country that acceded to the Agreement on creation of the free trade area among the GUAM member states, on the territory of which the goods were obtained in full or were sufficiently processed/transformed.
GUAM is a regional initiative, made up of four states: Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Republic of Moldova and aims to develop cooperation between states by strengthening common stability and security in the European space.
